Resource centre
The library is a
modern facility that includes an outdoor learning area and a large computer lab
containing 30 computers. It is
located in the centre of the school and is utilised by all students for
the borrowing of books, reading, playing board games, using the available iPads and other scheduled lunch time
activities. The resource centre is open five days a week.
Books can be borrowed every lunchtime from 11.00am to 11.25am.

Class borrowing
All classes have a set borrowing time in class time so that
students can borrow books on a regular basis. Each child can borrow a book from
the wide range of fiction and non-fiction books in the library. It is
important that each student has a library bag to protect the books.

Special events in the resource centre
Each year the Scholastic Book Fair
is held in the Resource Centre. This special time is an excellent opportunity
for students and parents to purchase the latest and most popular fiction and
non-fiction books, posters and stationery.
The Premier's Reading Challenge invites students to
read at least 15 books (Yrs 5-6), or 20 books
(Prep-Yr 4), and to keep record of the books during this time. They will then
receive a certificate from the Premier.
Book Week is held in August and is always a very
exciting time at Buddina with all students and teachers dressing up for the
Book Week Parade. The Resource Centre has a majority of the books nominated for
awards by the Children's Book Council of Australia. Students
have the opportunity to listen to the nominated books.
