Library
The library is a
modern facility which is
located in the centre of the school and is utilised by all students for
the borrowing of books, reading and other scheduled lunch time
activities. The library is open five days a week.
Class borrowing
All classes have a set borrowing time throughout the week to allow students to borrow books on a regular basis. Each child can borrow books from
the wide range of fiction and non-fiction books in the library. It is
important that each student has a library bag to protect the books.
Special events in the libary
Each year the Scholastic Book Fair is held in the library. This is an excellent opportunity for students and parents to purchase the latest and most popular fiction and non-fiction books as well as posters and stationery. Our library receives a commission from all of the sales during the fair which allows us to keep our library updated with the latest books throughout the year.
Book Week is a week long Australia-wide event held in August each year. At Buddina we celebrate all things books and reading throughout the week in a variety of ways which includes; stories from the short-listed books, activities in the library during class borrowing time as well as lunch times. Each class creates a themed display for our library and we encourage family and friends to visit the library to see our wonderful displays. Our week of celebration ends with our annual Book Week parade where all staff and students dress-up as their favourite book character.
