Find out about our school rules and policies:
Uniform
Wearing the correct school uniform each day promotes pride, belonging and high standards. Students are expected to wear the Buddina school shirt, blue bottoms, white socks and black shoes, with only sleeper or stud earrings permitted. Sports shirts may be worn on Fridays. If a student is out of uniform, they are required to collect a uniform slip from the office. Our full Uniform Policy is available on our website.
Student Code
Our Student Code of Conduct outlines clear expectations for behaviour and learning at Buddina State School. It explains how we support students to meet these expectations and details the processes used when disciplinary action is required. The Code of Conduct is available on our website and provided to all new families upon enrolment.
Parent and Community Code of Conduct
At Buddina State School, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and positive environment for all members of our community. Our Parent and Community Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected of parents, carers and visitors when on school grounds or engaging with the school community. Working together with mutual respect strengthens the positive culture that supports every child's learning and wellbeing.
Medication/First Aid
Should your child require any medication to be administered at school or at a school activity (including over-the-counter medications) i.e., Panadol, antihistamines etc., Doctor's forms must be completed, and the medication must be labelled by a qualified health professional with the:
Please Note: Pharmacists are not prescribers of medication, only dispensers of medication, therefore their name cannot be on the label. The doctor, dentist, paediatrician (qualified health professional) must provide a letter, with instructions as to dosage times and amounts, or complete the following form (page 4): CLICK HERE
For asthma, anaphylaxis, eczema and severe allergic reactions, a doctor completes an ASCIA action plan, which complies with all the above requirements. When medication is brought into school, parents and caregivers are required to sign the following consent form for each medication. When medication is brought in to school, parents and caregivers are required to sign the following consent form for each medication: CLICK HERE
School Gates
Student safety is our highest priority. All school gates are closed from approximately 9:00am and reopen after 2:00pm each day. During these hours, all parents and visitors must sign in and out via the front office. For school events such as athletics day, Under 8s Day etc, gates will be opened at designated times to support safe and efficient access, and these times will be communicated in the Parent Update. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
Mobile Phones/Wearable Devices
To support student learning and wellbeing, all mobile phones must be switched off and kept 'away for the day' during school hours. Notifications on wearable devices must also be disabled to prevent calls or messages during the school day. Students may sign devices into the office before school and collect them at the end of the day.
Road Safety
With increased traffic around the school, road safety is essential. Families are encouraged to remind children to use designated crossings, dismount from bikes, e-bikes or scooters when crossing, look carefully for traffic, and always wear a helmet. While Queensland law treats compliant e-bikes as bicycles, primary-aged students may not yet have the judgement and awareness required to safely manage powered devices. We strongly encourage families to carefully consider whether an e-bike is appropriate for children under 12 and to prioritise safety at all times.
We also ask all parents and carers to model safe driving behaviours, including the correct use of Stop and Go Zones and safe parking practices, to help keep our school community safe. If families observe unsafe parking or traffic behaviour around the school, we encourage them to formally log the issue with Sunshine Coast Council (for parking and road matters) or Queensland Police via Policelink (131 444) for dangerous driving. Thank you for your continued support in helping us prioritise the safety of all students and families — please stay safe on the roads.
Student Early and Late Arrivals/Early Departures
To ensure the safety and supervision of all students, late arrivals and early departures must be processed through the school office. Students arriving after the school day has commenced must be signed in by a parent or carer at the office before going to class.
For early departures, parents and carers are required to report to the office to sign their child out. Students will then be collected from class by staff. Parents are not permitted to walk through school grounds or go directly to classrooms to collect students.
Please note that during lunch breaks (10:45–11:30am and 1:30–2:00pm), students are not in classrooms and may be difficult to locate promptly. Where possible, we encourage families to avoid collecting students during these times.
Visitors/Volunteers
At Buddina State School, student safety is our highest priority. All visitors and volunteers must report to the school office upon arrival to sign in and collect a visitor badge, which must be worn at all times while on school grounds. Visitors and volunteers are required to sign out at the office before leaving.
Depending on the nature of the role, volunteers may be required to hold a current Blue Card in accordance with Queensland legislation. Please check with the Principal or Business Manager to confirm Blue Card requirements prior to commenci ng any volunteer activities. We appreciate the support of our families and community members in helping us maintain a safe and respectful school environment.
Covered Bike Enclosure
Buddina State School provides a secure, covered bike enclosure with capacity for over 100 bikes to support students who ride to school. The enclosure is open for student access before school and is locked each afternoon after 2:55pm to ensure security. If a student needs to collect a bike, scooter or skateboard for an early departure, they are required to obtain the key from the school office. We appreciate students' cooperation in using this facility responsibly and safely.
Playground/School Oval/Facilities
For safety and supervision reasons, ball games are not permitted and students are not to use playground equipment or oval spaces before or after school hours. Outside of school hours, use of school facilities is only permitted through an approved hire agreement in line with the Queensland Department of Education's Community Use of State School Facilities Policy. Enquiries regarding facility hire can be directed to our Business Manager at administration@buddinass.eq.edu.au
